Glass

Glass has been throughout history, the single largest use for soda ash. Typically 12% –15% by weight of raw materials in glass. With a low melting point and reactivity, soda ash acts as a flux for other ingredients, like silica and other oxides, allowing them to be melted at lower temperatures, giving them a low enough viscosity to be easily handled and formed.
